Cassidy, I am sorry you are suffering from lupus, but I want to assure you that you CAN have a full, happy life. Sometimes it take a few years to find the right combination of medications that will work for you without causing undue side effects.I am 51 and was diagnosed when I was 22, after having symptoms for years before that. No one listened to me for a while and sometimes they still don't, but stand up for yourself and communicate everything you feel with your body to your doctors. YOU know, more than anyone, how you feel and what is or is NOT working. DO keep faith that is WILL get better. It is harder at your young age, not only having an autoimmune disease, but because your body is going through major growing changes, too. In a few years things will even out a bit and your disease should be more manageable. Don't let lupus define who or what you are. It is simply a part of you, like the color of your eyes. You cannot change it so you learn to live with it. Don't let the disease rule your life. YOU rule your life. Your goals and dreams for what you want in your life should not change because of lupus. You can do whatever you dream of doing. It will just be a bit more challenging for you. You can be what you want to be and do what you want to do, with perhaps some adjustments for your illness. You can have a family, with proper medical management and you can live a wonderful life. You have lupus...can't change that, but pick up and move on with your life, while doing what you need to do to stay as healthy as possible. Trust me. You can do it. I did it. Toni is doing it. YOU can do it too. I'm sure you heard this, but some of the most important things that you can do for your health is to eat a very healthy diet get LOTS of rest, nap if you need to, and always get some exercise, doesn't have to be a full work out, walking will work, be active. I have faith in you. You are young and though your body has a little flaw, you will work with it. You'll do just fine.

thank you so much to both of you i guess I'm just trying to really adjust to all the changes in my life . just recent i a flare up and i didn't know what was happening i thought i was better but i was wrong when i came out they told me i needed to see my doctor right away to get new medication and stuff and its something i didn't want i want to be free from this . i hate the fact that i have to wear a wig and my life is changing i didn't want my senior year to be this way me missing school missing my events who want that. then me the one who puts stress on my self who tries to fight and fight and do everything on my own when i know i need to ask and i need to relax its hard and then stress of school doesn't help but i'm trying everything anything to get better april is birthday may is prom the big day graduation is june i just hope i don't feel bad have a flare have a pain that will keep me from these moments in my life that are important to me and the fear in that takes over so much . but you both have made me really think that you guys have had this and still fight and still are here even though this is in your life so i thank you

Cassidy - My name is Felicia I am 31 and was diagnosed in 2002. I have been having issues due to a Lupus flare for the past month or so. Keep your head up. I know that it feels like you can't remember feeling "normal". You can have a great happy full life. You are very young give yourself a break. I have 3 girls 4, 2 and one. I am also a very active distance runner. This is my worse flare in about 4 years. When I was diagnosed at 22 they put me on meds. I don't know why but they made me feel worse. I did a lot of reading about natural remedies that help with the inflammation and other Lupus symptoms. I cut out fast food, junk food all together. Rest when I need it and started talking vitamins and natural suppliments. Go to The Vitamins Shop and talk to the workers. I take Fish Oil, DHA, and two other things as well as vitamins. The reason why I am feeling so crapy now is that I had my girls pretty close together and my body just kinda couldn't take it. You are at a great advantage because you were diagnosed early. Take care of yourself, rest and when you do feel good be active. Keep your head up.
